Pihl Wedding Invite Package

Invites, Save the Dates, Envelopes, and RSVP cards

The Goal: Based on inspiration from a Kansas City venue, create clean but unique designs to be used for wedding announcements. The Challenges: I was given the instructions to use a very cool color palette for a springtime wedding with a very energetic inspiration point.

The Approach: Plenty of back and forth communication was had with the client to ensure that I was creatings something true to their vision. I stripped down a lot of the details to a simpler elements so they would read clean, fresh, and formal.

Knotty by Nature Aerial Troupe Logo

The Goal: To create a logo for a performance troupe that is visually readable as an aerial silk pretzel with a simple silhouette. The Challenges: Aerial arts have many distinct and recognizable silhouettes, but a pretzel made of silk is not something that currently exists that people instantly associate with this category of performance. The Approach: Originally the logo was just going to be the aerial silk pretzel, but it was clear that without context it wouldn't be recognizable as related to circus arts/aerial performance. I made the decision to add other figures using more recognizable apparatuses to give the logo a more instantly understandable visual.

Knotty by Nature Informational Materials

The Goal: To create one page documents to hand out for prospective members or potential venues/clients.

The Challenges: There is a ton of information that must be conveyed in both of these flyers to ensure that the receiving parties are informed on details and safety. It's important to keep the large amount of text easy to digest and navigate.

The Approach: I began by lumping the text I was given into relevant categories. Making sure there is no extra bloat and repeated wording that will create take up even more space. From there it was determining what were the most important pieces to emphasize, while bringing in some flair and fun to the layout.

Creature Feature Posters

The Goal: To create eye-catching promotional material for a local burlesque show optimized for social media ads and physical posters. The Challenges: There was a lot of shifting information during the process of creating these, and that meant there were many edits that had to be made in the process. It was also an interesting problem to figure out creating 12 individual performer posters that fit their provided headshots while also matching the theme and full art poster. The Approach: Leaning into the campiness and source material, I wanted these fliers to showcase the performers as a part of the art, like actors in a B movie.
